The Trevor Project

Insight: People fail to see the invisible signs of LGBT youth in risk.

Big Idea: What if you were as invisible as how LGBT youth felt about themselves?

Digital:

The Trevor Project would partner with Google for a day and remove the letters “LGBT” from the search page, including the logo and other words on the search page. Clicking on the logo leads you to a page with the statement “ People fail to see the invisible signs of self harm that LGBT youth inflict upon themselves. That’s why we took away the LGB and T, so you can see how noticeable it is when they’re gone. Learn more at TheTrevorProject.org” It then leads you back to the search page but with “The Trevor Project” as the first search already, allowing you to either go to the site or continue looking for whatever you need.

Experiential:

There will be a photo booth placed in major cities such as Times Square, LA, etc. When you go into the photo booth it will ask for your email as well so it can send you the photo digitally. When the photo is taken, the photo that comes out will not have them in it. They have “disappeared” from the photo. When they go to get the photo, the only thing on it is the background of the photo booth and the statement “What if we made you just as invisible as most LGBT youth feel about themselves. Find out more at the TheTrevorProject.org” The email that gets sent out has the actual photo of the people in it but also includes the same statement but also a link to TheTrevorProject.org as well.
